The CQ Best - Practice Group is made up of
innovative graziers, farmers and specialists who are
seeking new ways of achieving sustainable production
while adapting to the changing climatic conditions. Many
of the primary producers do not believe in climate
change as it is being promoted today (politically), but
do believe that tomorrows farmers need to be climate
savvy and know how to work with nature. After all, the
most successful producers have been managing their
soils, plants and animals with nature for many decades.
The projects that evolve from this group have primarily
come from surveys and questionnaires which individual
producers have completed from 2008 onwards in the
Grazing BestPrac program.
All
primary producers in central
Queensland
are members of the CQ BestPrac Group. Therefore, any
producer or interested community member can attend
activities in order to work together to improve their
awareness and understanding of natural resources, soil
health, plant health and animal health. Most
participants are primarily looking for information and
skills that will assist them to improve production,
while improving biodiversity, sequestering Carbon and
reducing greenhouse gases.
